I took an evening class as I was feeling frustrated at work and felt that doing something creative would be helpful.

Approach

The vase was slab-built of clay slightly less than 1cm thick. The major challenge was to keep the edges clean and straight, which is especially difficult with clay as it marks every time you touch it, and warps whenever you work it. The glaze effect, mirroring the curve of the top, did not work as hoped. The piece is about 30cm tall.

The flowers are fake, but better to have slightly unconvincing artificial flowers than dead real ones . . .
