Brief: RM Delta |
|
The kneeling chair and keyboard were developed with the aid of a physiotherapist to maximise comfort whilst preventing back and wrist problems in later life. All the PC components are housed in the screen housing, which is easily swapable for upgrading and fixing. WiFi networking means that the Delta is always online, and the teacher can view any screen. ![]() Close the screen and the keyboard shelf sinks into the desk. This leaves a flat work surface for pen and paper work. The weight of the screen is balances by twin gas struts which also protect the components from shocks. The structure is anodised sheet aluminium for rigidity and abuse resistance. ![]() If the screen is flipped round and closed the Delta becomes a large screen Tablet PC- controlling the computer with a pen. This enables students to develop handwriting skills, draw and work with mathematical formula with ease. The desks are shaped to allow them to be arranged in many different ways to suit teaching needs. |
For my dissertation I am required to design a thoroughly researched product. I have chosen to design a workstation/ desk for the connected classroom of the near future, ApproachAfter exhaustive research and consultations, the desk to the left has been designed. It can be used as a conventional school desk, a 'normal' PC, or a huge screen tablet PC. This means that traditional school and computer work can be complimented by the tablet, enabling a careful synthesis of the two. It was initially modeled in Solidworks, then exported to 3D Studio Max, where the Poser figures were also imported and then it was rendered and manipulated in Photoshop Photographs of the life size sheet metal fabricated model below Grade: A overall Thanks to all the people who have helped me get this far, there are too many of you to mention.
