JCB sponsored the 'Product Design 2' module of my course this year, they wanted blue-sky ideas for bringing the cement mixer up to date, which has not been changed substantially for 50 years.

Approach

Builders, hire shops and private users were consulted. An understanding of the actual functions that the mixer was required to fulfill were understood. The mixer was then modeled in SolidWorks (an CAD package) and from this model engineering drawing and renders were generated.
